Living in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park we are spoiled rotten with everything from our bustling High Street, to numerous golf courses, two ski resorts and the Moray Firth all within an hours drive from us. Not to mention the beautiful Anagach Woods just a short walk from the front door along with other walks in and around Grantown on Spey. If birds and wildlife are more your thing we have capercaillies in the local woods, ospreys in Boat of Garten which is a short drive from us and the fabulous Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie which is a bit further away but worth a day out.
Things to do in the Highlands
Grantown on Spey is a great base for exploring from, there is the Speyside Way for all you fit walkers out there, or how about dabbling in the Whisky Trail for something a little bit more relaxing. Of course Speyside is also known for it’s fishing and we have the river Spey just a short walk from us and The Snug is situated above Mortimers of Speyside who can assist with fishing permits and kit. Make sure you have already spoken to Mortimers prior to your visit so you know of the availability of permits during your stay in The Snug.
One place we really love is Logie Steading Visitor Centre, near Forres, who specialise in Scottish craftsmanship and produce and makes an interesting day out – whether browsing in the shops, eating in the award winning cafe, walking along the spectacular river paths or strolling in the walled gardens.
If you are looking for a more relaxing break away and just want to eat well, sleep well and relax how about booking a treatment at our local Heart of the Highlands Therapies we can thoroughly recommend although it is a women only practice – sorry boys! Booking in advance of your stay is essential.
There are many more things to do in and around the area and we provide a full welcome pack in The Snug.
